You all have probably already heard of them. But they're just that good, I felt I should post them.

Yash Doshi - the next biggest thing

City and Colour

Canadian side project of Alexisonfire's Dallas Green(get it?). Sad, poppish tunes on acoustic guitar. Green still manages to make a distinct sound that i find fairly relatable.

I was infatuated with this group for the longest time. There newest album was alright but I only like 2-3 songs on it. Everything else is amazing. Especially "Poor Leno."

i am the storm, and i am the wonder; and the flashlights, nightmares, and sudden explosions

Ruse, please use this song in one of your videos.

SAFARI. I want to rail you hard.

I just spent the past 45 minutes putting together a seriously boss post, and then Safari crashed, leaving me angry and put out by the whole thing.

I don't even want to write about why I chose these songs. It's too depressing now, but I'll put something. Just download them. They are awesome. Shit.

(right click downloads)

The Whitest Boy Alive – 1517 - Nice use of Daft. I dig. Btw I think Daft is touring in 2010? Definitely going. Definitely.

XTC - "Dear God" - Finally, and honest song.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Hysteric .mp3 - "Flow sweetly. Hang heavy. You suddenly complete me, you suddenly complete me"

“Surfin’ Bird” - Bird is a Word.

“Come Out, Come Out” - Specifically for Denesh, because I think it's a song he would like. "I want to be young, and I will scream at the top of my lungs, to go out, to wake up, and to break this fucking cycle!" Definitely influenced by some Silver Spun.

Bon Iver & St. Vincent – Roslyn - The best song I've heard in two months, easily. Props to Bon Iver. Been on Team Iver since the get-go, but he really worried me when he signed up with New Moon. No complaints. This is almost better than Blood Bank. Not quite Skinny Love, but close.

Anya Marina -Satellite Heart - Simple, cheesy, and sweet. Love it.

W.A.L.E.D.A.N.C.E. – Wale - Thank you Wale for not fucking over a great song like 'Chiddy Bang' does in his sample songs. Song's fun.

End.

Love,
Cabin.

This video ought to rock your world.

JUDGEMENT HOUSE - BREEEEEE BREEEEEE BREEEEEE

BR00TAL M3T4L
by Austin "The American Wolf" Parker

Thursday, November 5, 2009

This past weekend I went to the fest, a music festival in gainesville, fl that primarily focuses on punk/hardcore bands. It was a BLAST; I recommend it to anyone.

So here's a rundown of bands that i saw and recommend:

Algernon Cadwallader

Very similar to Cap'n Jazz, only i feel like they have a much more organized sound. Screechy vocals on top of clean, minus the bear-esque riffs make up the majority of this band's sound. The music is very upbeat, the kind that'll keep you smiling through the entire set.

Gonna have to ignore the video on this one, it's just the best recording i could find.

One of the great things about the fest is that noone really knows these bands, so you get to hang out
with thems. Algernon is a cool group. We got a dance pit going during

Teenage Cool Kids

I hadn't heard of them before the fest, and i'd probably be a little more well versed if they had merch...
so i don't know the names of these songs, bear with me.
I've always quietly shook my head when people tell me that you can't dance to rock music. This was a
show where dancing just couldn't be avoided. Catchy, surf rock style riffs with a punk attitude.

Bridge and Tunnel

good ol punk rock. in this vid acousticized! i can't decide if i like this better than the amped version

children of nova

This band is a bit different than the usual stuff posted but
I can't ignore the musicality they have and the pipes on their vocalist.
This one goes out to a true AMURICAN, Austin Parker.

HateFuck

The Bravery announces that they will release their highly-anticipated third album, entitled Stir The Blood, on November 10th. Slow Poison and Hatefuck are two singles.

into the mirror

Download: Into the Mirror

I'm in love with the synths and strings of this song.
It's great pop but they don't lose their musicianship & technicality.
The new album won't arrive until early 2010, but chin up
they're coming to Athens' 40 Watt on the 12th of November.

For the Weekend

The Vampire Weekend CD won't be out until 2010. However, don't get your panties in a bunch. The first single, "Horchata," is now available for free download from the band's Web site.

the XX.
From London and apparently very young.
Don't know too much about them, but this song, "Crystalised" is superb.

Lykke Li - Little Bit

I really like her voice, especially the part when she falsettos. Simple song, nonetheless awesome.

Also Drako Malfoy did a remix of this song with Lykke Li, which is pretty good too.

Wednesday, August 12, 2009

Maps and Atlases

This is mathy, technical music. But rather than going all Yngwie Malmsteen, Maps and Atlases take virtuistic guitar playing and smack the egotistical pointlessness out. Their unique tapping riffs can sound blindingly fast or confusingly complex, but they mesh into an overall playful, enjoyable sound.

"If my entire life culminated in something which was a thousandth as brilliant as this, I would be very very happy. I keep coming back to this and thinking "it can't be that good" but it properly is. Wow! "

Beirut is an American band which began as a solo act by Zachary Condon and later evolved into a group led by Condon. Their music combines elements of Eastern European and folk with western pop.

Shout Out Louds

Great Indie band straight outta Stockholm, Sweden. Their second album "Our Ill Wills" is truly a masterpiece.

White Lies

White Lies are an English alternative rock band from Ealing in West London. Formerly known as Fear of Flying.
