Crookers - Remedy feat. Miike Snow

I've been getting my fix of house/electro music lately. Crookers is one the more famous groups, heres a mix with Miike Snoww.

"love rock"

This is probably my favorite song off the album
and I really like the cinematography in this video.

Stars have done it again with "The Five Ghosts"
and I'm sure this album will be part of the soundtrack to my summer.
It's easy, carefree pop is just too enjoyable.
I literally sleep for hours to this album and wake up just to replay it all over again.
I'll probably go dive into their great back catalog now and doze off to those tunes as well.

"Telephone rings
But we'll just let it sing
Hide out 'till tomorrow
I crawl into your shadow

I don't mind, I don't mind
This wasted, shaded daylight"

sing the chorus again.

It's odd how songs seem to relate to your own life.
Recently I've been pondering about time, waiting, being patient, rushing things, and slow&fast pace.

Particularly these two lines have been rummaging around in my head lately:
"these things, they take time"
"take your time, take your time to arrive"

and now "we used to wait" has arrived.

And now begins the storm behind my eyes as I wait for that lighting bolt.

"I used to write
I used to write letters
I used to sign my name
I used to sleep at night
Before the flashing lights settled deep in my brain
But by the time we met
The times had already changed
So I never wrote a letter
I never took my true heart
I never wrote it down
So when the lights cut out
I was left standing in the wilderness downtown

Now our lives are changing fast
Hope that something pure can last

It seems strange
How we used to wait for letters to arrive
But what's stranger still
Is how something so small can keep you alive
We used to wait
We used to waste hours just walkin around
We used to wait
All those wasted lives in the wilderness downtown

Ooooo we used to wait
Sometimes it never came
Ooooo we used to wait
Sometimes it never came
Ooooo we used to wait
Still moving through the pain

I'm gonna write a letter to my true love
I'm gonna sign my name
Like a patient on a table
I Wanna walk again
Gonna move through the pain

Now our lives are changing fast
Hope that something pure can last

Ooooo we used to wait
Sometimes it never came
Ooooo we used to wait
Sometimes it never came
Ooooo we used to wait
Still moving through the pain

We used to wait for it
Now we're screaming
Sing the chorus again

I used to wait for it
Hear my voice screaming
Sing the chorus again

Wait for it"

Clubs & Camping

I just spent the last 2 days trekking and camping on the Gahuti Trail in the Fort Mountain State Park. I figured I'd post the songs that kept me company as I stared at the night sky with Cec because he couldn't fall asleep in the wilderness. Oh by the way, hiking 8 miles uphill over jagged rocks with only 4 hours of sleep is Hell. The journey was actually more scenic than the destination though, sigh.

These two recently released albums are my favorites at the moment and I demand you to get them. Every single song on these albums is fantastic. Who doesn't love albums where you don't need to skip tracks?

Download links are the gray "Artist - Album Title" labels.

xx death to the throne remix

So I just got my speakers back and plugged them in. I fortunately stumbled upon this remix a few minutes later.

It has been about a month since the last update.
Lately I've been listening to Omni from Minus the Bear, Bad Veins' self titled debut, La Roux's debut, The XX's debut, and High Violet from the National.

I saw Minus the Bear play a wicked show last week and Passion Pit will be playing the Tabernacle next month.

Harvest of Hope

Took a trip to Florida this weekend, which incidentally helped out some migrant workers. Mostly helped me with my lack of music crisis.

Of course, the vast majority of the music played there doesn't really fit the vibe of this blog, so while i do have one band that actually played there, included in this post is a band that i saw at HoH and a band i heard on the way to harvest of hope!

Dustin O'Halloran

Most solo piano stuff sounds like all the same, right? Not with this guy, he is a classical pianist unlike everyone else. This is some of the most tasteful written solo piano. You can find all his stuff if you just google his name and mediafire

Allow me to usher you in to the next decade...

So welcome to the next decade. I haven't posted in a bit, but after listening and watching that new Sigur Ros I'm inspired to share what I'm into right now. Interesting change in music over the decade but I'm not going to highlight that. I'm just going to post the tunes I dig.

Firstly, I'm obsessed with The Cramps. If you're unfamiliar, they are a psychobilly band that got started up at CBGB back in the late 70's. They are so fucking great it blows my mind. I would post single songs I like but it would be faster to just download the whole album. My favorite tracks are She Said, Garbage Man, I Can't Hardly Stand It, Human Fly, and New Kind of Kick.

Secondly, here's the list. Get to downloadin'.

Hasil Adkins - No More Hot Dogs - There are so many songs I want to post from him, but this one just sums him up so well. Decapitation and food.

Metric -Help I’m Alive (Acoustic Version) - I just can't get enough of this song...so...

The Kinks - This Time Tomorrow & Strangers - Gotta love some old Kinks.

Lonnie Walker – Compass Comforts - This tune is sweet yo! These guys should be famous.

I'm holding back some artists because I think I'm going to make a whole post devoted to them.

Have fun with these. Be back soon.

-Ruse
